Course Purpose/Objectives:
This course is divided into two parts. The first part of this course is an introduction to Web Design and HTML. Students will be able to create an HTML document using the structure and syntax of HTML and the basic tags required. Students will show proficiency in formatting text, incorporating graphics, adding interactive forms, creating tables, advanced Web page structuring, Web page design, and creating Web page scripts. Students will also be able to perform all functions using an HTML web editor like MS Front Page or equivalent.
In the second half of this course, students will learn how to use Microsoft Publisher Software. They will be able to plan and create a publication. They will create letterheads, logos, and formatting in different media.. They will be able to create a brochure using Office Integration techniques, use Power Point Presentations, and to create publications for print and for the World Wide Web.
Prerequisite:
Keyboarding for College or Computer Applications 1.

Software: Microsoft Internet Explorer; text editor Microsoft Notepad, a Web Editor like MS Front Page ( or equivalent)

Grading:
Letter grades will be determined using a standard percentage point evaluation as outlined below. Grades may be curved after the total semester points have been tabulated. However, do not count on a curve to obtain your desired grade.
Tests and Quizzes are worth 40% of your grade.
Classwork and class participation are worth 40% of your grade.
Projects and Collins papers are worth 20% of your grade.
