Grade 10 – Class Timeline

SEPTEMBER

  • Check your schedule to make sure that all of your academic, elective and PE/Health classes are scheduled
  • Get Involved!! Join school clubs, sports & activities. Volunteer at local agencies.
  • Pay attention to your daily attendance! 7 unexcused absences/quarter results in failure of all classes for that quarter.
  • Sign-up for tutoring with your Guidance Counselor. Do not wait until it is too late!!
  • Talk to your parents about taking the PSAT (the practice test for the SAT) Wednesday, October 12th *Note: All 10th graders will participate in the PSAT as a regular school day
  • Work permits are available in the Main Office before or after school only


OCTOBER

  • Open House -October 6th
  • Progress Reports -October 7th
  • Columbus Day- No School- October 10th

  • You should take the practice PSAT test at home under simulated conditions. See Guidance Counselors for the practice test.
  • PSAT- October 12th Don’t forget your calculator.


NOVEMBER

  • First Quarter Closes- November 10th!! – Evaluate your report card and make any necessary changes to your study skills, habits, etc… Tutoring is available through your Guidance Counselor.
  • Veteran’s Day- No School- November 11th
  • Report Cards- November 22nd

  • Attend the Extra-Curricular Fair- GET INVOLVED!!
  • Early Release- Thanksgiving Recess- November 23rd!!
  • Pay attention to your GPA (Grade Point Average). Colleges do look at all four years of your grades!!


DECEMBER

  • Discuss results of the PSAT with your guidance counselor and with your parents
  • Progress Reports – December 16th

  • Christmas Recess- December 26th – 30th


JANUARY

  • School Resumes- January 2nd

  • Prepare for Mid-terms!!
  • Get to know your Guidance Counselor- make an appointment with your Counselor to discuss your past, present and/or future!!
  • Second Quarter Closes- January 27th


FEBRUARY


MARCH

  • Progress Reports- March 9th

  • Scheduling for Grade 11 begins. See your teachers and/or Department Heads for recommendations for Honors and AP courses.
  • MCAS- All Grade 10 students

    1. March 20th -ELA- Long Composition

    2. March 21st -ELA- Reading Comprehension 1 & 2
    3. March 22nd -ELA- Reading Comprehension 3
    4. March 29th – ELA Long Composition Make-up</ol


APRIL

  • Third Quarter Closes- April 5th
  • Good Friday- No School- April 6th
  • Spring Vacation- No School- April 16th- 20th
  • Report Cards- April 24th

  • Explore occupations, salaries and requirements as reported to the U.S. Department of Labor at http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm
  • Have a family discussion about college costs and financial options. It’s never too early to prepare/ invest for your future!


MAY/JUNE

  • Progress Reports – May 18th
  • MCAS- All Grade 10 students
