Learning Center Period C AND E

Course Description

The Learning Center is a graded course available to students who qualify through their I.E.P. or 504 plan.  This course is designed to support each student in his/her academic classes and to facilitate their overall success.  The Learning Center has two goals:

  1. To allow students to work on homework, classwork, projects, etc., in a supervised atmosphere where they may access help with content-based curriculum.
  2. To improve academic performance in all content areas via learned organization strategies and study skills while showing students how to focus on strengths and circumvent weaknesses.

Students will be required to keep a daily productivity log and planner.  Students will complete weekly assignments to enhance their study skills and organizational skills.

Grading

Grading will be calculated based on daily productivity logs (and daily planners), students’ grade tracking sheet, and weekly assignments.

Materials needed

Binder (s) (for academic classes)

Pens/pencils, calculator

Notebook or journal

Academic texts and assignments (for academic classes)

Discipline Policy

Students are expected to be productive in each class

Students are required to follow school rules as identified in the Student handbook.
