Visual Art Class is for many people. You do not need to be “great at drawing,” just willing to keep an open mind. In Art you will think outside the box and tap into the right side of your brain to express yourself using artistic media. We will begin the semester (1st or 3rd Quarter) with a review of the Art Elements and Principles of Design:

In Art class you will also learn to understand the art and styles of master artists through the ages of time as well as today’s modern artists. Below is just one example of a style you will explore.
CUBISM- This is a form of Abstract Art that LCHS students are studying. Cubism was first developed by Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso around 1905. Its origin begins with French artist Cezanne (1890′s) He was a true, abstract art visionary: he saw and painted forms from all angles on one flat surface. Cezanne saw painting as an exploration of the subject, not just a mere ”replica.” Since photography was just invented around that time in the late 1800′s, the artist sought originality and making Art for the sake of Art.
