Binder

You must have a binder for this class; (1”-) not to be shared with another subject. Your binder must have dividers. You need a section for notes, vocabulary, and test/quizzes. You will receive a binder grade each quarter. This binder will be checked at the mid point (Progress report time) as well as the end of each marking period. Please pay close attention to the enclosed rubric.

Class behavior

There should be no students talking during class. If a student is asking a question we all listen. If I’m explaining something we all listen. Class disruptions will not be tolerated.

  • No gum chewing allowed. Also, no snacks, juices or candy.
  • You may have water at your desk. Leave other drinks by the door. Please take them with you when you leave. Pick up after yourself; don’t leave your trash behind.
  • Cell Phones must be off. Not on silent or vibrating modes. Please place your phone on top of your desk as soon as you are seated.

Homework

Homework will be assigned frequently (as in daily) Home work is due on the day it was assigned. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE HOMEWORK. NO EXCUSES. If you don’t have it, is a zero.

Projects

There will be several projects throughout the year. The projects will have deadlines. As with homework I do not accept late projects. Talk to me if you have technology issues ahead of time, not the day due

Attendance

If you are absent or late to school (and miss my class) YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for the missing work/test. Please get missed assignments immediately. I will not remind you to make up your work. It is your responsibility. You have 2 (two) days to make up homework and 1 (one) week for test/quizzes (unless you were late, different rules apply). These can be made up before or after school, not during class. If you don’t make the work up within the time allowed you will receive a zero. My night back is Tuesday or by appointment. I’m very flexible. Don’t procrastinate.

Language Lab

We will be going to the lab on our scheduled Day 3. It is of outmost importance not to be absent on that day. We do not have a digital lab, and make-ups are very demanding as well as time consuming. I can only help one student per level at a time. Therefore it has been my policy NOT to do make ups for recordings missed. Since we do more than one, this should not affect your grade greatly.

Grading

Test 25%, Lab 15%, Quizzes 20%, Homework 15%, Projects/participation 25% Midterm/Final will be added to 2nd and 4th Quarters grade and will count 15 % as per department policy.
