Jobs for Bay State Graduates (JBSG) is designed to prepare high school students for their futures by providing them with career exploration opportunities including job shadowing, internships, career-oriented curricula, and community involvement, along with job attainment, and job survival skills.
All students are provided with competency-based curriculum that includes life survival skills, self-esteem and self-confidence building, career development, academic remediation, leadership, and social skills development, and career competency attainment.
During the senior year the curriculum focuses on employability skills aimed at preparing the students for immediate transition to the workforce upon graduation. Students of the program also participate in a student run organization called the Bays State Career Association. The foundation of the organization is based on four goals; Leadership Development, Civic Awareness, Career Preparation, and Social Affairs. Students reach these goals by participating in monthly activities that incorporate the goals of the program with the community and reinforce the competency-based curriculum.
JBSG’s greatest asset lies in the follow-up component of the program. Students receive 12 months of follow-up services upon graduation to provide continuous support and job placement.
