Study the phases off the moon as shown in figure 30-8 very carefully!!

4).  Read The Outer Planets on pages 598-605 ( including the Science and Technology) part.

Copy  table 29-1 on page 600 into your notebooks.  Also, do questions (1-5) on page 605.

5).  Read Asteroids, Comets and Meteoroids on pages  606-609.  Do questions )1-4) on page609.

6).  Review questions at the end of the chapter; Multiple Choice Questions , do (1-13) on pages

610-611.  Be sure to write the letter and the word.

7).  Critical Thinking; do 1,2, and 3 only.

There wii be 3 movies shown concurrently in order to update the planetary information since the printing of the text; therfore the chapter may take a little longer to complete than usual.  Thank you.

 

 

Special note:  To get the most out of the questions asked in the chapter, you should be able to express your answers in complete sentences.  This process, while more time consuming, will allow you to determine whether you fully understood the question and if your answer  fully relates to the question.

Introduction:     This is the first chapter in the unit dealing with astronomy and space exploration.  It is undoubtedly some of the most fascinating mater undertaken in this course to date!  Provided you do your part and read the basic material in the chapters assigned, the rest will be supplemented with current information from NASA and films( videos), etc. and lively discussions that will stimulate you imagination far beyond anything you may have ever imagined.  So welcome aboard and let’s go!!!
