Junior Timeline
September
- Look at your classes, G.P.A. and activities and make sure they reflect what you want to show to college representatives and employers.
- Start to compile a list of colleges and occupations that match your interests using the internet, catalogs, and guidance publications.

- Shadow professionals in your field of interest & ask lots of questions!
- Register to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 12th. Check with guidance and LCHS website for deadlines.
- Sign-up for tutoring with your Guidance Counselor. Do not wait until it is too late!!
- Check LCHS Website, www.lynnclassical.org, and your teacher’s websites, www.lynnclassicalstaff.org for upcoming dates and times for college visits and fairs as well as assignments and projects.
October
- Open House -October 6th
- Progress Reports -October 7th
- Columbus Day- No School- October 10th
- If you registered for the PSAT you should take the practice PSAT test at home under simulated conditions. See Guidance Counselors for the practice test. Don’t forget your calculator on Oct 12th for the PSAT.
November
- If you haven’t passed the MCAS note the dates of the November Retest.

2. MCAS ELA Nov. 14th, 15th, & 16th
- First Quarter Closes- November 10th!! Evaluate your report card and make any necessary changes to your study skills, habits, etc… Tutoring is available through your Guidance Counselor.
- Veteran’s Day- No School- November 11th
- Report Cards- November 22nd
- Early Release- Thanksgiving Recess- November 23rd
- Review the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may obtain this form online or from your guidance office. www.fafsa.ed.gov
- We also have the Trio Program working out of the guidance office to provide assistance with the Financial Aid process. Students must apply to the TRIO Program. Applications are available in the guidance office
- Pay attention to your GPA (Grade Point Average). Colleges do look at all four years of your grades!!
December
- Discuss results of the PSAT with your guidance counselor and with your parents. Identify your strengths and weaknesses so you can study for the SAT accordingly.
- Progress Reports – December 17th
- Christmas Recess- No School- December 26th- 30th
- If you receive free or reduced lunch talk to your guidance counselor or TRIO to get SAT/ACT registration waivers.
January
- School Resumes- January 2nd
- Begin scheduling visits to the colleges that you are interested in.
- Prepare for Mid-terms!!
- Second Quarter Closes- January 27th
February
- MCAS Biology Retest – February 1st and 2nd
- Report Cards- February 7th
- Winter Vacation- February 20th – 24th
- Register and study for the SAT and ACT exams.
- Start investigating private scholarships, organizations that your family is affiliated with and other student aid programs.
February/March
- If you are still working on passing that final MCAS Subject be aware of upcoming testing.

3. MCAS Retest Math March 5th and 6th
- Progress Reports- March 9th
- Register for the SAT Reasoning and/or Subject Tests and any other exams, if you haven’t already done so. Continue to study for your exams.
- Scheduling for Grade 12 begins. See your teachers and/or Department Heads for recommendations for Honors and AP courses.
- Sign up for National College Fair held in Boston.
April
- Third Quarter Closes- April 5th
- Good Friday- No School- April 6th
- Spring Vacation- No School- April 16th- 20th
- April vacation is a great time to visit colleges; they are not on vacation so you can get an idea of what the campus is like in full swing.
- Have a family discussion about college costs and financial options. It’s never too early to prepare/ invest for your future!
- Report Cards- April 24th
May/ June
- Progress Reports- May 18th
- Take the SAT/ACT and any Advanced Placement Exams that you are signed up for.
- May 5th SAT at LEHS
- June 2nd SAT at LCHS
- June 9th ACT
- Register to take the SAT & ACT exams in your senior year.
July/August
- Enjoy your summer!!!! Continue to visit colleges, do your summer reading/assignments, work part-time, save some money and try to RELAX!
