This is our  syllabus for Algebra One.

Course Syllabus

Algebra One   Algebra (Glencoe ~ Florida Edition ~ 2004)

The purpose of this course is to develop the algebraic concepts and processes that can be used to solve a variety of real-world and mathematical problems.

 Course Goals:

In algebra I students will  be able to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to problem solve, reason, and create models/make connections. Students will also be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of the different ways numbers are represented and used in the real world.
demonstrate a working knowledge of numbers.
Demonstrate understanding of the effects of operations on numbers and the relationships among these operations, select appropriate operations, and compute for problem solving.
Use estimation in problem solving and computation.
Demonstrate understanding and apply theories related to numbers.
Measure real world quantities that measures problem exactness.
Compare, contrast, and convert within systems of measurement (both standard and metric).
Estimate measurements
Visualize and illustrate ways shapes can be divided, changed and combined.
Describe objects algebraically and accurately.
Describe, analyze, and generalize a wide variety of relations, patterns and functions.
Use expressions, equations, inequalities, graphs, and formulas to represent and interpret situations.
Demonstrate understanding and use the tools of data analysis for managing information.
Identify patterns and make predictions from an orderly display of data using concepts of probability and statistics.
Use statistical methods/ make inferences and valid arguments about real-world situations.
